Day 1: Arrival & The River Spirit

    • Arrival: Transfer from Lusaka by road (approx. 4 hours) or a short light aircraft flight to the central Kafue airstrip.

    • Afternoon: Check into your lodge on the banks of the Kafue River. Head out for a late afternoon boat safari to see hippos, crocodiles, and elephants coming down to drink.

    • Stay: Ila Safari Lodge (Luxury Eco-Lodge) or Mukambi Safari Lodge.

    • Meals: Lunch & Dinner.

Day 2: Savannah Tracking & Bush Walks

    • Morning: Early morning game drive in search of predators. Central Kafue is excellent for leopard and wild dog sightings.

    • Afternoon: Experience a guided bush walk. Learn about the "little five," track animal footprints, and discover the medicinal uses of local plants.

    • Stay: Ila Safari Lodge or Mukambi Safari Lodge.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.

Day 3: River Exploration & Relaxation

    • Morning: A specialized morning boat safari for birdwatching (over 500 species recorded here) or a fishing trip (catch-and-release).

    • Afternoon: Visit a local community project or relax by the infinity pool overlooking the river.

    • Evening: A "silent safari" in an e-Landy (electric vehicle) for a quiet sunset drive.

    • Stay: Ila Safari Lodge or Mukambi Safari Lodge.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.

4: To the "Serengeti of Zambia" (Busanga)

    • Morning: A scenic 5-6 hour game-viewing drive (or a 30-minute flight) to the Busanga Plains in the far north.

    • The Landscape: The terrain changes from thick woodland to vast, open floodplains dotted with palm islands.

    • Stay: Chisa Busanga Camp (stay in "bird nest" rooms) or Busanga Bush Camp.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.

Day 5: The Plains of Plenty

    • Morning: Game drive across the plains. Busanga is famous for its "tree-climbing lions" and massive herds of Red Lechwe and Puku.

    • Afternoon: Relax in camp. The open-air design of Busanga camps means the "safari" continues from your private deck.

    • Evening: Night drive to find the elusive serval or honey badger.

    • Stay: Chisa Busanga Camp or Busanga Bush Camp.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.

Day 6: Hot Air Ballooning & Sunset

    • Dawn (Optional): Hot Air Balloon Safari over the plains. Drift silently over the mist-covered wetlands as the sun rises—ending with a champagne breakfast in the bush.

    • Afternoon: Final game drive. Keep a lookout for cheetahs, which thrive in the open terrain of the north.

    • Evening: Farewell dinner under the stars at the Boma.

    • Stay: Chisa Busanga Camp or Busanga Bush Camp.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner

    Day 7: Departure

    • Morning: One last sunrise breakfast. Fly from the Busanga airstrip back to Lusaka (Kenneth Kaunda International) for your onward flight.

    • Meals: Breakfast.
